Implementing new understanding isn’t always easy. Transformation and change processes is sometimes difficult. Karl Weick wrote a lot about exactly that when claiming 7 aspects about sensemaking.
He stats – “sense is in the eye of the beholder” I agree!
Have you experienced that it’s sometimes difficult having a discussion because of the fact that you don’t discuss the same thing than you counterpart? We all have, haven’t we?
It’s about sensemaking.
In all great transformations we find need for sense making and the design of understanding - GK VanPatten
Given our backgrounds this is not surprising! For this purpose we often create Mindscapes in the form of stories, maps, diagrams and various visual mental constructs. From time to time we will post some NextD examples here in the Mindscapes section of this site.

Thanks for quoting this from our site but we are not Karl Weick. This was written by GK VanPatter.

I don’t agree with you - The quote used in the title of the post IS from Weick - W Weick, K. E. (1995). Sensemaking in organizations. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage. P. 61-62.
BTW - I like very much your work at Nextd.org ![]()

Hans: Hey we like your new blog but your referencing could use a little work! You have muddled several quotes together there. You have taken something from Weick (How can I know…) and fused/confused it with text from VanPatter (In all great transformations…thru to Mindscapes). That is what we were pointing out to you. We are well aware of Welck.
In your correction you still do not have it right. Look at our earlier post to you above here.
In any case we wish you good luck with your content generation guys. Keep up the good work.
