The power of innovation is transforming the way we think of business worldwide. Now the time has come for the nation states to understand their part of the innovation system and following the Lisbon treaty each country in the EU are told to produce nation based innovation strategies. Hence follows the questions: How can nation states engage in innovation initiatives and what does a nation based innovation strategy look like?

Looks great Sweden, is it possible to see how you do that.

Please tell the rest of the world :-). Tell us.

Great initiative and HIGHLY relevant.

In my opinion Sweden is just doing what the Lisbon treaty is telling them to. All EU members shoud comply with the treaty and they probably will. In my opinion it’s the countries that started this proces a long while ago that will succeed. My best example is Finland, about the same size as Denmark, so it’s fairly easy to compare it. They’ve had a design-based strategy towards innovation for a long time now and it’s finally starting to show.

Question is: Is Sweden too late? How will Denmark compete? What will the rest of the EU do? First of all we need to turn our globalization debates away from being afraid of Asia into cooperating with them towards greater growth for both of us. They can’t live without us and we can’t live without them.
