I must say, I must admit, that RSS gives me a much broader peripheral vision. Few days ago an interesting blogpost came into my reader. Jess have had som great posts in the past, and his blog is always worth reading.

This time it’s interesting, again. The conversation between Jess & Adam Richardson is about strategy and innovation. Read it, and listening. Here are some of the insights from the conversation:

  • Chatting about the strategy practice at frog. Differences between traditional strategy offering from McKinsey or Bain. The advantages of integrating strategy with a more holistic practice including industrial and interaction designers, engineers, and others.
  • Discussion of Org 2.0 companies and how they are better able to take on innovation and create compelling experience-based products, services, and systems. If you’re in an Org 1.0 company, start with a skunk works.
  • Dealing with the innovation surplus. Companies that have embraced innovation now have no shortage of fantastic ideas. Now the challenge is prioritization and execution.
  • Core insights. Like core competencies, core insights emerge from the unique combination of experience, skills, information, and activities of your organization. Core insights are hard to duplicate in the market, and offer significant competitive advantages.
  • Some thoughts on influencing innovation - how can aspiring innovators escape the gravity well of the status quo? If you’re not in a company that embraces innovation, what can you do? Adam comes back to skunk works as one way to build momentum. Look for much more on this topic at bplusd in the coming weeks and months.

I saw this presentation the other night and I must say it moved me deeply…..

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened — as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding — she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

Almost three years back the crew behind this blog - Jacob, Magnus & I - asked you who you are. It was a great exercise and gave us tremendous insights on who read the blog, what backgrounds the readers have, reader expectations, new ideas a.o

So, why not repeat that?

Who are you? - I would love to know more about you, please tell…..

The writing here at cph127 has come to an end in the context that most of you know - since early 2005 I’ve been writing about design, innovation and leadership.

I started out with good friends - Jacob & Magnus - and we invited a lot of interesting perspective into the “community” too - Thank you all for your thoughts & energy put into cph127.

For me - at least - the sense-making has been tremendous. When starting out I knew only a few things about design - mainly as a result of my work at DDC. While I created a lot of sense - as I think the community around cph127 did - DDC is still having hard times understanding what design is all about - besides form & function.

This sense-making journey has been a tremendous ride throughout an understanding of a new business imperative. I wasn’t aware about that fact when starting out blogging here at cph127, creating stronger ties to thought leaders and thinkers in the area of Design, Knowledge Management, Chaos Theory and technology development. But while doing that a new understanding of what is needed in todays business emerged. Jacob and I switched the unknowable/intangible to something very real when creating Connecta - now Wemind - back in early 2006. Since then we’ve been busy building a broader understanding on how we create a better platform for todays companies to overcome tomorrows uncertainties in coping with complexity, knowledge economy, globalism and sustainable innovation capability. We’ve created a few insights ourselves already, but trust me, there are no end result or everlasting rules or principles…

This new chapter in the history of cph127 - this new context - is still about making sense of the field of leadership, organization and strategy, but not only for creative business functions, but business in general.

Please feel free and join in…

Dear all

There hasn’t been much posting from me lately – I don’t know if I should apologise, but fact
is I’ve been busy starting a new venture here in Denmark – A consultancy business in
the intersection of Innovation, Social Software and Leadership.

Jacob – who you
already know as a part of the cabincrew - and I, are much motivated by the learning’s
and sensemaking created here at CPH127.

Thank you
all for being part of that :-)

Our entrance
to problem solving is MUCH formed by the principles discussed as design
processes and Design Thinking

Our venture
– our company – is named Connecta. Of course we also have a weblog, but until
know we are focusing on the Danish marketplace which is the main reason for
writing in Danish.

The company
is framed as a network. We believe very much in new ways of organizing
projects, companies and our daily lifes and are very much inspired by the
principles formed by Ken Thompsen – you can read more about the principles
here.

So, if you
are interested in joint ventures, collaboration, an “office” in Copenhagen or just curious,
please contact me :-)
